Workshop Announcement – Making an Impact with Low Impact Development: Helping Rhode Island Communities Use Lessons Learned from Existing Projects

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and Coastal Resources Management Council have partnered with the University of Rhode Island’s Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials (NEMO) program to offer a workshop on the benefits of and impediments to implementing Low Impact Development.
The workshop will include lessons learned from actual projects in planning, permitting, design, construction, and maintenance of LID practices. It will also address issues such as BMP effectiveness, practicality, costs and retrofits. Speakers will include Dr. Robert Roseen from the University of New Hampshire Stormwater Center in Durham, NH, and Dr. Michael Dietz from the University of Connecticut’s NEMO program.
Who Should Attend?
Municipal officials responsible for post-construction stormwater management reviews (planners, DPW directors, town engineers), planning board members, open to consultants.
