Lemont appointed as CRMC hearing officer

WAKEFIELD, January 20, 2012 – The vice chair of the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council, Paul E. Lemont, Esq., has been appointed to serve as the Council’s administrative hearing officer.

Under the CRMC’s Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Program (RICRMP or Red Book), the administrative hearing officer oversees all contested cases, all contested enforcement proceedings and all contested administrative fines, unless a subcommittee is formed for those activities. The CRMC’s enabling legislation outlines that the hearing officer must be an attorney-at-law with previous practice experience. Mr. Lemont will serve a five-year term as the sole hearing officer

Mr. Lemont is an attorney from the City of East Providence, and has served on the Council for approximately 10 years, eight of them as vice chairman. He previously worked as an arbitrator, partner at Manchester & Lemont, as Seekonk’s town administrator, and as city manager for the City of East Providence.
