Chairman's Message
Rhode Island was one of the first states in the nation to create a coastal resources management program; in fact it pre-dated national coastal zone legislation. As each year passes, the CRMC realizes new achievements and accomplishments in coastal zone management. From our extensive South Shore Habitat Restoration project to our Metro Bay Special Area Management Plan (SAMP), our efforts reflect the CRMC's mission to balance coastal management with smart growth and economic development. We continually strive to be one of the best coastal programs in the nation. We look forward to maintaining the high expectations that you as citizens demand. I hope that the information you find within this web site will help you understand how important the coastal resources of our state are and how the CRMC accomplishes its mandates of protection and management. Please let us know how we can do better. Michael M. Tikoian, Chairman |
