Come learn the results of the Commercial Fisheries Research Foundation (CFRF) sponsored research investigating quahog population dynamics in Narragansett Bay. It has been speculated that RI DEM Shellfish Management Areas A & B are a primary source of quahog larvae for distribution throughout the Bay and increased fishing pressure in that area may impact Bay-wide larval supply and recruitment. Meet the researchers and learn more about their study and findings at this "Feature Presentation."
This collaborative research project, solicited and funded under the CFRF's Southern New England Collaborative Research Initiative (SNECRI) program through NOAA, was carried out by the following team: Dale Leavitt, Roger Williams University; Dennis Erkan, RI DEM; Michael McGiveney, RI Shellfishermen's Association; Scott Rutherford, Roger Williams University; Mark Gibson, RI DEM; Jeff Mercer, RI DEM; Chris Kincaid, URI-GSO; Dave Ullman, URI-GSO; and Tim Scott, Roger Williams University.
