CRMC to hold joint work session with Town of SK on erosion
March 25, 2011, WAKEFIELD – The Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council will be holding a joint work session with the Town of South Kingstown on March 29 to discuss the beach erosion issues in Matunuck.
The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the South Kingstown Council Chambers at 180 High St., Wakefield. The two councils plan to discuss potential short and long-term solutions to the coastal erosion problem, as well as a brief history of the issue from the CRMC and town’s perspectives.
The primary intent of the work session is a general discussion of coastal erosion issues along the Matunuck headland between the town council and CRMC, with the purpose of discussing solutions that benefit the municipality and the state, as well as the affected residents. Discussions regarding short- and long-term management measures and other matters of mutual interest are anticipated. No discussions of specific enforcement actions or application activities regarding particular properties will be addressed.
