Note to Parties Interested in the Deepwater Wind Matter
Regarding the Public Notice dated January 13, 2014 for CRMC File No: 2012-09-065 for a hearing on the petition of: Deepwater Wind Block Island, LLC, seeking a State of Rhode Island Assent to construct and maintain the Block Island Wind Farm, a 30-megawatt offshore wind farm located in Rhode Island state territorial waters. In connection with the BIWF, Deepwater Wind Block Island Transmission, LLC proposes to construct the Block Island Transmission System (BITS), a 34.5-kV alternating current bi-directional submarine transmission cable from Block Island to the Rhode Island mainland at Scarborough Beach. This project also requires Special Exceptions for the cable landfall locations which are in Type 1 waters.
The matter will be held before the Ocean SAMP Subcommittee at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 in Corless Auditorium, URI Bay Campus, South Ferry Road, Narragansett, RI.
PLEASE NOTE: A second hearing of the Ocean SAMP Subcommittee on the same matter will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Town of New Shoreham Town Hall, 16 Old Town Road, Block Island. This second hearing is being held in order to accommodate the residents of Block Island and their interests in this matter.
