CRMC takes part in Engage Newport
March 4, 2014, Newport – Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) Executive Director Grover Fugate will be taking part in a panel discussion on sea level rise and its impacts on Newport at Engage Newport, tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the Newport Yacht Club.
The Engage Newport Sea Aware event, “Newport’s Waterfront and Sea Level Rise – What have been the impacts and lessons learned from recent major weather events and what we can work toward in the future?” is the second event to be held by the City of Newport.
Newport residents and business owners have been invited to attend the event to learn about the impacts of sea level rise, lessons learned thus far and potential solutions that can be adopted in the future.
In addition to the CRMC executive director, panelists will include Michelle Burnett, floodplain manager for the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency; Paul Carroll, director of Civic Investment for the City of Newport; Peter Connerton, chief of the Newport Fire Department; and Teresa Crean, coastal manager for the URI Coastal Resources Center and RI Sea Grant.
