Coastal Engineering SAMP Stakeholder Meeting, April 21, 2015

April 17, 2015, Narragansett, RI –The Beach SAMP Stakeholder Meeting, "How Can Coastal Engineering Contribute to Resilient Coastal Communities," will take place on April 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography’s Coastal Institute Auditorium, Narragansett.

Coastal engineering can counteract some of the processes and forces affecting Rhode Island's shorelines and communities, but what are the practical and financial limits? Christopher P. Jones, P.E., will speak to this question. Jones is a registered professional engineer specializing in coastal hazard identification, hazard mitigation and coastal engineering, with over 30 years of local and international experience. He has worked on studies and projects relating to:

• Flood hazard mapping
• Coastal engineering
• Flood loss estimation modeling
• Coastal floodplain management
• Post-flood damage investigations
• Mitigation and flood-resistant design
