RI CRMC Shoreline Change Special Area Management Plan (Beach SAMP) Stakeholder Meetings

Exciting news - we are now hosting TWO Public Stakeholder Meetings in October: October 12th at URI's Bay Campus, and October 26th in Barrington to share the project with residents in the upper reaches of Narragansett Bay! See info below, and please be sure to RSVP so we can ensure we have enough seats for everyone interested (and food, if you join us at the URI meeting).

MEETING #1:

DATE: Thursday, October 12, 2017

TIME: 6-8 pm

WEBCAST: Yes! This meeting will be live webcast and available online as a video after the meeting.

TOPIC: RI Shoreline Change Special Area Management Plan (SAMP) - Release of DRAFT Beach SAMP document Chapters 3, 4, & 5:

The first three (3) chapters of the RI Shoreline Change Special Area Management Plan will be shared and released at this stakeholder meeting. RI CRMC Director Grover Fugate and the project team from the URI Coastal Resources Center will introduce each chapter and address audience questions. PLEASE NOTE, The DRAFT chapters will be available for download and review upon conclusion of the public meeting, which will mark the start of a 30-day public comment period. The chapters being released on October 12, 2017 include:

• Chapter 3: Assessing Coastal Hazard Risk
• Chapter 4: Rhode Island's Exposure to Coastal Hazards
• Chapter 5: RI CRMC Coastal Hazard Application Guidance

Additionally, an updated Table of Contents for the document will be made available at the October 12th Stakeholder meeting, with a schedule for completion of Chapters 1, 2, 6, & 7.

Pizza will be served at 5:30 p.m. in Corless Auditorium.

TOPIC: RI Shoreline Change Special Area Management Plan (Beach SAMP) - Project Overview and Release of SAMP document Chapters 3, 4, & 5:

Are you interested in learning more about the Shoreline Change Special Area Management Plan but can't make it over to URI on October 12th? Join us at Barrington Public Library on Thursday, October 26th! RI CRMC Director Grover Fugate and the project team from the URI Coastal Resources Center will offer an overview of the project, a review of each chapter out for public comment, and address audience questions.

NOTE - due to restrictions at the Library, refreshments will not be served at this meeting.
