SouthCoast Wind geophysical and geotechnical surveys

SouthCoast Wind will be conducting focused geophysical and geotechnical surveys in Rhode Island and Massachusetts state waters approximately from November 19,, 2024 to January 31, 2025.

Specifically, the geophysical work is scheduled to begin November 19 and will continue for approximately two weeks.

The geotechnical work is expected to begin on November 25.

The planned survey areas in the vicinity of Boyd’s Lane and Montaup Country Club in Portsmouth, RI and Brayton Point in Somerset, MA are detailed in the link below. Operations will involve 32-foot survey vessel The Jim Cole, which will conduct shallow water geophysical surveys. A barge operated by Diligent Marine will conduct geotechnical surveys by boring holes. There will be a total of nine sampling stations. Sampling will be very focused, conducted on a small vessel operating only during daylight hours, and the applicant does not anticipate any disruption of recreational activity or fishing.
