February 26, 2024 – WAKEFIELD – The winter months battered Rhode Island’s coastline, eroding dunes and carving sand from the beaches along the southern coast. Winter’s not over yet, and any Rhode Islander worth his or her salt knows there might still be storms in the near future ready to punish the shore.

In an effort to answer the public’s concerns and the uncertainty that comes along with the winter storm season, the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) has published a Frequently Asked Questions informational guide on all things erosion. It can be found here - http://www.crmc.ri.gov/coastalerosion/ErosionFAQs.pdf.

The FAQs cover everything from describing the geologic forces at work to what the CRMC is doing related to erosion and what coastal property owners should do post-storm. There are also helpful links to additional information, including application guidance.
